Police Arraign Security Guard Over Alleged Rape

A 33-year old security man, Sunday Adegoke, was on Thursday arraigned by the police before an Oshodi Senior Magistrates’ Court, over alleged rape of a 16-year old girl.

Adegoke is standing trial on two-count charge of assault and unlawful carnal knowledge.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Corporal Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 31, at about 2 p.m, at 6, Adelaja Close, Mafoluku, Oshodi.

Olatunde said that the accused tricked the girl, a student, into his room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

“Adegoke assaulted the teenager by biting her and hitting her head on the wall, which caused her bodily harm, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her,“ Olatunde said.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 171 and 258 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

Magistrate M. R. Osho-Adebiyi granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osho-Adebiyi ordered that the case be transferred to the Family Court in Ikeja for trial, as the complainant was a minor.
