Etuhu arrives Super Eagles camp
The mood in the Super Eagles camp in Abuja assumed a more buoyant mood Sunday evening as Euro-based national team players started to trickle in ahead of the trip to Kigali for Wednesday’s Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
First to arrive was Fulham midfielder Dickson Etuhu, who was in his dread lock trade mark, and was immediately welcomed by Head Coach, Stephen Keshi and his assistants.
After checking into his room, Etuhu informed that some of his teammates will be around later in the day, while the others would come in Monday morning.Keshi thereafter asked Etuhu to take care of his 11 younger home players in camp. Etuhu said of his return to the national team: “I’m glad to be back and we need all the concentration to return Nigerian football to the very top in Africa.”
Keshi also informed that he has given three of his players permission to arrive camp on Monday evening because they have Sunday games. The players are goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama of French side, Lille, Joel Obi of inter Milan and Spain-based Ikechukwu Uche.“
“The players are ready for the game and the advance party have been given us positive information on what we need to do, so we must be prepared for the task at hand,” Keshi said.
Meanwhile, sportswear manufacturing giants; Adidas have continued to maintain their own part of the bargain for the Eagles as they turned in new designs for the national team ahead of their encounter against the Amavubi of Rwanda.At the weekend, Equipment Manager, Chidi Ngoka and Team Scribe, Dayo Achor Enebi, took delivery of the wears. Etuhu was the first to don the house wear version of the kits.“It’s a New Year and we are happy with the new kits and hope to celebrate the new design with victory in Kigali ,” Enebi said.
All the players and officials received the new sets of jerseys with glee and the promise is that it would bring new tidings to the team.
