Olympic Qualifier: Mensah To Coach Boxers

Adopt-A-Talent Sports Programme’s Boxing Chief Coach, Joe Mensah, is currently in the national camp, preparing the country’s pugilists ahead of the Olympic qualifying tournament billed to hold in Casablanca, Morocco.

The invitation of Coach Mensah to the national camp by the Nigeria Boxing Federation, NBF, came just in time the Adopt-A-Talent Sports programme set to flag off the second phase of the camping of its athletes after it was inaugurated by Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola on 7 February.

Prince Wale Oladunjoye, Chairman of the Management Committee of the programme, said that Mensah’s invitation to the national camp is a plus to Adopt-A-Talent Sports Programme, in which its boxers made it to medal zone at the last National Sports Festival and National School Sports Festival, held in Port Harcourt, River State and Calabar, Cross River State respectively last year.

“There is no doubt that Mensah, with his wealth of experience, will add value to the Nigerian team going to the Olympic qualifier in Morocco. He is a formidable and seasoned coach, who has garnered experience in both amateur and professional cadres of the pugilist sport.

“The feat recorded by Olusegun Ajose in the world boxing arena is one of the good testimonies of the achievements of Mensah in recent times,” he said.
