Ikpo Ifeanyi-Chuks is the Technical Adviser of Anointed Stars FC. Ikpo spoke with Grassroots Soccer Guide on the readiness of the team for both the Lagos FA Cup and National Amateur League III.

Let’s have an update from your team’s camp?

Our team are preparing for the Lagos FA Cup and Nationwide League, formally known as the National Amateur League III playoffs. Our target is to gain promotion to the National Amateur II and win the Lagos FA Cup.

Your team failed to gain promotion in last year’s National Amateur III playoffs, you think the team can do it now?

We did our best, but our best was not good enough to gain promotion to the National Amateur League II. The players have promised the management that they will do well in this year’s playoffs.

How ready are you for this playoffs?

The players are in high spirits and ready to make the club proud when the playoffs kick off. We are still waiting for the organisers of the championship to fix the dates for the draw ceremony and when the clubs would meet for the playoffs.

What’s the club management doing to motivate the players?

The players are well motivated. The chairman of the club, who doubles as the General Overseer of the Anointed Kingdom International Church, Reverend Benson Omokouyo, has promised to reward the team financially if they gain promotion and win the Lagos FA Cup.
