Police Arrest Murder Suspect, Smash Car-Snatching Gang

Police in Kano, northwest Nigeria, said they have arrested a 20-year old Auwalu Muhammed accused of killing a lady in the Sabon Gari axis of the city.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Musa Magaji Majiya in a statement Tuesday evening said Auwalu was arrested through a tip-off, adding that police were yet to establish the identity and details of the victim.

P.M.NEWS learnt that Auwalu allegedly murdered the unidentified lady at No. 7 Middle Road Sabon Gari, Kano.

Majiya said the police while acting on a distress call caught the suspect at the scene of the incident.

He stated that the police recovered ‘blood stain knife’ from the suspect at the scene as exhibit , pointing out that the accused has since confessed to the crime during preliminary investigation.

Majiya added that the command has also smashed a gang of car snatchers along Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highways.

The police Spokesman also hinted that the car-snatching syndicate is suspected to be behind the recent killing of Christopher Onocha, a Superintendent of Police attached to ICPC along Abuja-Kaduna Highway.

The police gave the list of those arrested in their net as Chukwudi John, Adogba Egadile and Abubakar Isiyaku who were arrested at the point of selling the late police officer’s vehicle.

According to Majiya, three SUVs were recovered from the suspected car-snatchers.
