The Magic Of Movement

The secret of low-cost, pain free, lifetime fitness is here but not without you being responsible for the outcome.First get a notebook and title it “Better me.” Write down your dreams, goals and desire for your body and your whole person.

Get a photo of you whenever you are in the best shape and glue it to your notebook, this will always remind you of the person you want to become, that person with glowing skin, healthy and nice figure.

In your notebook, keep a list of all the benefits of regular exercise. Glance over it frequently to remind yourself how much good a little bit of movement will do you.

Here are some of the good things that happen to you when you add the discipline of exercise to your life.

•YOUR FIGURE improves as the muscles are toned and you have more strength and endurance.

•YOU LOSE WEIGHT from burning calories and fat and charge up your metabolism.

•YOUR POSTURE straightens, not only due to strong muscles but also because your sense of wellbeing and self esteem are enhanced.

•YOUR COMPLEXION glows with good health.

•YOUR BONES retain their density and your joints become more flexible.

•BLOOD VESSELS transport life-giving oxygen more efficiently to your whole body and regulate your blood pressure.

•YOUR HEART is strengthened and your heart rate normal.

•YOUR LUNGS expands and process more oxygen.

•YOUR DIGESTION and waste removal improve, and your appetite is more controlled.

•YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM relaxes as stress is lessened and depression lifts.

•SLEEP comes sooner and sound.

•YOUR BRAIN sharpens, becoming more alert and able to concentrate.

And if you include God in the activity (as in praying, meditating and memorising the scriptures), exercise becomes a complete body and soul prescription for good health and beauty.

In addition, you do not have to join a gym. There are many simple exercises you can do in your own home, using inexpensive equipment and your own body weight for resistance.

The first time, I ever entered a gym to lift weights, I was able to bench press my own body weight. I didn’t know it at the time but this was excellent. My physical trainer was completely blown away and asked me when I had started lifting weights. I hadn’t been lifting weights, but had been doing pushups for over four years and “pushing my weight.” I had no idea how strong I had become.

Strength training does not necessarily mean you will build large muscles (women by nature of their hormones, rarely do this)

First your flabby untrained muscles will get tighter and take up less space. Then depending on your sex, body type, level of resistance and frequency of workouts, you may begin to see an increase in size. But you are in control of your result.

Muscle will atrophy (weakening of muscle due to lack of use) within forty-eight to seventy two hours. If you feel too bulky, just reduce the frequency and intensity of your workouts-your muscle will begin to shrink without consistence stimulation. But they will not turn to fat. And fat cannot turn into muscle, no matter how hard we work-out.

If your body still has a fat layer over the muscle, you will not see the benefits of all your work initially. However, beneath the surface, important things are happening. Your increased metabolism and fat releasing enzymes are increasing the “melt rate” of fat from your body. You will be seeing some of those toned and fit muscles showing under your skin before you know it.

Eating for health and energy should be more important than simply getting fat off you body. So eat and burn all day long.
