Abandoned Vehicle Owners Warned
Owners of abandoned vehicles at Ojota Motor Park in Lagos have been warned to remove them lest the Lagos State government will remove and sanction their drivers.
Chairman, Park Committee at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, MOT, Alhaji Oladosu Fashola gave the warning in Ojota yesterday when the committee visited the motor park on an inspection visit.
Fashola said he was warning the drivers for the last time to remove the abandoned vehicles and that failure to heed the warning could force the government to seal off the motor park.
He also warned women selling alcohol at the motor parks to desist, noting that some drivers, after drinking alcohol, mixed with herbs, usually drive recklessly and end up crashing.
The park committee chairman said women who sell alcohol at the motor parks will have their wares confiscated and arrested to Alausa Secretariat and they risk prohibition.
Fashola charged the chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Ojota Park, Alhaji Akinola Adisa to ensure he and his members maintain a clean environment at Ojota.
Responding, Akinola said NURTW members will obey every instruction from Alausa, clear the abandoned vehicles and ensure a clean and conducive atmosphere to park operators.
The committee later accosted a woman selling beer at the Ojota motor park. Her shop was temporally closed and reopened later after she was warned not to sell beer again near the park.
