New Art Gallery Opens In Lagos

A new art gallery named Kongi’s Harvest Art Gallery, has been opened inside the Freedom Park, Broadway, Lagos state by the Lagos State Government.

The new gallery known by the name by which Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has become widely known, was opened this morning by the Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, in honour of Professor Soyinka.

The art gallery, a massive building, has a space allocated to the Nobel Laureate where his collections over the years would be displayed.

The opening of the gallery coincided with the Lagos Black Heritage Festival, a week-long event that would showcase the beauty of the black race of the world including its culture and tradition.

“What is going to be there are some of his art works which he has collected over the years. There is a space allocated to him where his art works would be displayed.

“The idea of the art gallery was conceived by Theo Lawson, who worked with the State Government to see to its fruition,” one of the organisers of the event told P.M. NEWS.

As at the time of filing this report, there were traditional dancers from various backgrounds in the country displaying their culture and tradition.
