Five Pupils Die In Motor Accident Fire

Five of the 15 pupils of Divine Wisdom Nursery and Primary School, Monatan, Ibadan, Oyo State, burnt yesterday when their School bus caught fire, have been confirmed dead.

P.M.NEWS gathered that three died yesterday while the other two died early today at the emergency unit of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, where they were taken to.

The pupils were going to school in the morning when the bus conveying them caught fire. Fifteen of them were seriously burnt in the incident and rushed to the hospital.

Sources at the school told P.M.NEWS this morning that the pupils had finished their second term examination and were going to school to obtain their report cards when the incident occurred.

A reliable source at the UCH also disclosed that senior medical personnel were battling to save the lives of the remaining 10 pupils.

She revealed further that three of the victims were from the same parents. “I am sure you understand me. Three of the victims were born by the same father and mother,” she explained.

Journalists were also prevented from taking photographs of the injured pupils by the hospital management. “These are minors. You cannot take their pictures or mention their names in your story,” a nurse told our reporter.
