Eagles’ Uzoenyi Dares Defenders

Petit Rangers of Enugu left winger, Ejike Uzoenyi says no defender can intimidate him during local and international matches.

The player is now the rave of the moment in the Super Eagles, judging by his 5–Star performance in the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali, where he stood out despite his smallish stature.

Speaking to P.M.Sports at the Eagles camp, the attacking midfielder who is blessed with dynamic dribbling skills, said he will never be intimidated by any defender.

“I don’t fear defenders no matter their physique. Self confidence is one of the things that has really helped my game. So no defender can intimidate me because I can dribble any defender to find my way into the box to help my team win games.

“I am not saying that I have arrived, not all, I have a long way to go, but my aim is to remain in the Super Eagles,” Uzoenyi said.

The 20-year old player also said that the Nigeria Premier League has improved this season, going by the standard of play of the teams and hopes Rangers crown their efforts by winning the league title this season notwithstanding the strong opposition from Enyimba, Dolphins and Kano Pillars.

“Presently Rangers are doing well in the NPL. We want to continue doing well in the league because if you can recall, many years have passed since Rangers last won the league trophy, and I strongly hope that the dismal performance of the team will end this season. We want to win the NPL title. But the team will have to contend with teams like Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Dolphins, the defending champions,” he added.
