‘My Time’ll Come’

With his current form for Heartland of Owerri in the Nigeria Premier League, NPL and in continental championship, where he helped his team secure qualification for the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup, Kabiru Umar says his time will soon come to cement his place in the Super Eagles.

The former goal poacher of Enugu Rangers, put smiles on the faces of Heartland fans last weekend with his 50th minute goal against US Haut of Cameroun in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Heartland won the game 2-1 and the player said he is very optimistic that he is still relevant to the plans of the technical crew of the Super Eagles, led by Stephen Keshi in the rebuilding process of the team.

He has been part of the Home-Based Eagles during the camping exercise for the friendly games against Angola and Liberia respectively.

“We all know that Nigeria is blessed with many talent in the local league and we all cannot be invited to the national team at the same time. But, as long I keep doing my job well on the pitch, I will be a part of the Eagles.” Umar told P.M.Sports.

He says his experience in the national team has been vital to his performance this season, and confidence level is now high and this has impacted in his game with breathtaking goals for his team.

“There is no player who gets invitation to the national team, who will not learn one or two things that will influence his game when  he eventually gets back to his club. For me, what I learnt is now helping me to improve on my performance. I am very grateful for the opportunity given to me to be a part of the Eagles and I’m looking forward to more of such opportunities.” he concluded.
