Badminton: Nigeria’ll Be In Olympics —Danlami
President of Nigeria Badminton Federation, NBF, Justice Danlami Senchi has assured Nigerians of an Olympic ticket through Nigeria’s top ranked female player, Ofodile Gabriel.
Gabriel is currently the highest ranked African female player, according to the World Badminton Federation ranking.
Speaking on the state of preparedness of the country’s players for the Olympic qualifiers holding next week, the badminton boss said: “We are battle ready,” adding that he is confident of Team Nigeria securing the sole ticket available for Africa in the female category at the tourney.
According to Danlami, the recent invitational tournament, which the team took part in Uganda has prepared the players adequately for the Olympic qualifiers.
He said; “You know we recently arrived from an invitational tournament in Kampala, Uganda, where we came second behind the host nation.That has put us in a great stead to win the ticket.”
Danlami also informed that the National Sports Commission, NSC, has made the fund needed for the trip available. He believes the players would be at their best at the tourney.
