‘We Must Fight Corruption’

Nigerians must be ready to do away with corruption in the nation’s body politic if the country is to move forward.

This charge was given by Mr. Soga Odubona during the launching of the Association of Believers in Community Development, ABCD, in Lagos.

Odubona described corruption as the bane of the country’s development and urged Nigerians to unite in the fight against the cankerworm.

“Corruption must become a zero factor in the polity. The fight against it must be collective,” he added. He disclosed that the new association was formed to fight for the truth and social ills in the country. “ABCD does not belong to Christians alone but to everybody who believes in the truth. Truth must prevail over lies in the society,” he stated.

He called on religious bodies, community development associations, academic institutions, private and social organisations to join the ABCD to promote good governance in the country.

The ABCD founder said that politics was too important to be left with politicians alone, stressing that everyone must be involved.

On the objectives of the new association, Odubona said it was formed to ensure active participation by the citizenry in the affairs of the nation, “not necessarily through the elective process or partisan politics, but through effective community development. “Our association is meant to enhance safety, security, health, education, environment and so on. We will go to schools universities and other educational institutions to promote this association,” he added.
