Amosun Takes Delivery Of APCs, Declares War On Robbers

Ogun State governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, has said there is no comfort zone for robbers in the state, admonishing the men of the underworld to repent and become good citizens of Nigeria without further delay.

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor on Media and Communication, Mrs Funmi Wakama, on Monday and made available to our correspondent in Abeokuta, the governor disclosed that hard time awaits criminals the state is battle ready for them.

Amosun said this while taking delivery of 5 state-of-the-art Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) at the Governor’s Office in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, southwest Nigeria.

He reiterated the determination of his administration to curb the menace of armed robbers so that Ogun state would become investors’ destination of choice.

According to the governor, “as you can observe, the recently-held Ogun Investors’ Forum is already yielding positive results. There is the need to consolidate on that by ensuring that all obstacles to investment in the state are dismantled. That is why we are taking security very seriously.”

He disclosed that seven more APCs were being expected to boost security across the state.

The governor said Ogun state was the first to order for the new model of APC because of the value placed on the lives of the people and the security personnel who will use the equipment.

Amosun thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for facilitating the state in obtaining clearance papers for the APCs, adding that the equipment and 125 Hilux vans fitted with modern communication facilities would be launched in the state on Friday by the Inspector-General of Police.
