Student Falls From Mango Tree, Dies

It was a sad day at the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State when Stephen Etuk, a newly admitted student of the Fashion Design and Clothing Department died after falling from a mango tree in the school.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday after Etuk was said to have finished an all-night reading session with his colleagues in the school premises.

They were said to be preparing for Citizenship Education test which was expected to hold on Saturday morning as well as the forthcoming semester examination expected to commence on Wednesday, next week.

Campus Square gathered that the deceased climbed a mango tree close to the School of Engineering attempting to pluck a fruit but fell down in the process. A branch of the tree Stephen was standing on was said to have broken while he was trying to pluck the fruit. He died a few minutes later.

His colleagues described him as a humble and easy going person who was committed to motivating others in the department.
