Robbery Suspects Apprehended
The Lagos State Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, has arrested a 22-year-old robbery suspect at Oke Odo, Abule Egba area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
P.M.NEWS gathered that policemen from Oke Odo Division were patrolling the area when they saw two men loitering. They challenged the men who submitted themselves for a search.
During the search, a pistol was found on one of them and he was promptly arrested while the other escaped.
The arrested suspect was taken to Oke Odo Police State from where he was later transferred to SARS.
In his statement, the suspect said: “I’m from Delta State and I sell Okrika clothes in Katangwa Market, Abule Egba, Lagos.
“A case of armed robbery brought me here because a locally made pistol was found on me. The gun found on me belongs to my friend. We were together when he gave it to me to keep.
“We use the gun to threaten our victims, especially when a trailer or Toyota Camry car breaks down on the road, we storm the scene and identify ourselves as armed robbers and point the gun at them, but we don’t shoot. We have done that only twice.
“The first operation fetched me N3,000 while I was arrested after the second operation.”
Source at SARS said the suspect will be arraigned in court after police investigation.
