One of the cars which has been attracting attention at the 7th Lagos Auto Fair at TBS is the Peugeot Changan Alsvin sedan. At the PAN Nigeria stand, most of the visitors agreed that they were interested in seeing the car that was produced by PAN Nigeria and unveiled at the fair ground.

The Alsvin is powered by a 1.5-litre, 16-valve all-aluminum engine producing 72 kW and 137 Nm, with a five-speed manual as standard, as well as the option of a four-speed automatic. The sedan is offered with good level of leg room, reliable engine output, and make its mark as a bona fide family transport. As a full package and value proposition, the Alsvin is expected to outshine competitors.

Addressing stakeholders at the fair ground, Alhaji Umar A. Abudulsalam, representing the Managing Director of PAN, Alhaji Shehu Dauda, explained that the company has been challenged to produce a car that would meet the transportation needs of Nigerians.

He explained that Changan Alsvin was a quality product that has been accepted even in Europe, and a leading brand in China.

According to him, the company carefully selected the Changan Alsvin brand because of its quality, adding that PAN Nigeria’s many years of car production would be brought to bear in the production of Alsvin sedans.

He disclosed that PAN Nigeria already has a local content network and that in three years, the target would have been achieved, adding that the dream of achieving 50 per cent local content was in line with the federal government’s vision for the automobile industry in Nigeria.

The new Alsvin, industry watchers said, will be the right product at the right time for the PAN brand. It is expected to provide a new, strong alternative for young first-time car buyers, graduates and young couples setting out together. Reacting to the increasing interest in the sedan, Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN Nigeria) Limited Head of Corporate Communications, M. B. Usman, said it was gladdening that the market is already warming up to the car just as it was being unveiled.

He stated that by participating in the Lagos Motor Fair, PAN Nigeria is showing its commitment to the Nigerian market. “The Fair, has come a long way and PAN Nigeria is proud to associate with it as a foremost platform for brand awareness, sales and after-sales”.

Kayode Opeifa, Commissioner for Transport, Lagos State, Akin Kekere Ekun, Alhaji Ahmed Kuru, Chairman Enterprise Bank, Ifeanyi Agwu, CEO, BKG Exhibitions were all at unveiling and presentation.
