Rivers state gets new road safety commander

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has appointed Dr Kayode Olagunju, a Corps Commander, as the new Sector Commander of the Rivers Command of the Commission.

In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, Joyce Anya, Assistant Route CommanderPublic Education Officer, said that Olagunju replaced Commander Mary Wakawa, who had been re-deployed to Ondo State as Sector Commander.

Until his redeployment to Rivers, Olagunju was the Commission’s Transport Standardisation Officer at the National Headquarters and also a member of the FRSC’s Management.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Transportation Geography from the University of Lagos, Master of Science degree in Transport Studies from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye and Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife.Olagunju, a pioneer staff of the FRSC, had previously served as Sector Commander in Oyo State between 1992 and 1996 and he was also a two-time Lagos Sector Commander as well as Sector Commander in Adamawa State and Kogi.He won the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive Award for Outstanding Performance and Dedication to Service in 1993 and 1999.In a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Olagunju said his appointment was another national assignment and hopes to work with  stakeholders to evolve better road culture in Rivers.
