Wikki Focus On Future —Bosso
Wikki Tourists coach, Ladan Bosso has revealed that his side, who only won promotion last season, would stay within their low budget and are not dreaming of winning the league title, but are rather building a team for the future.
The Bauchi club had a low key close season without big signings, but Bosso is confident he is taking the club in the right direction.
“I’m always proud of my rookies,” Bosso told SuperSport.com.”Only three players in my squad have played in the Premier League before; the rest of them are products of academies, amateur league or the pro league and I’m very comfortable with this arrangement. Why should I go for tested players when I know we cannot afford them?” he queried.
“We have to make use of the available resources to build the club and that’s the reason I was signed because I’m a developer.”
Wikki have continued to prove the critics who predicted another relegation scrap wrong by remaining in the top ten and the former Flying Eagles’ gaffer reckons going down is out of the question.
“My aim this season is to consolidate our stay in the top flight so the boys will have the experience and I’m confident we can achieve this without necessarily struggling,” he added.
“If this team can be kept intact beyond this season then their performance would be better, but if the players go then I’ll have to get replacements and continue with the rebuilding.
“Sometimes football is all about coming and going, but the most important thing is to plug up the gaps anywhere you notice there is a problem.”
