MVAA, Police Collaborate For Better ECMR
The Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, MVAA and the police are collaborating for better performance of the Enhance Central Motor Registry, ECMR.
The ECMR is in charge of issuing the Central Motor Registry, CMR to vehicle owners, through the MVAA during registration of vehicles.
In recent time, there have been challenges in the issuing of CMR to motorists and the MVAA sought to address this by conveying a stakeholders’ meeting with ECMR officers in a bid to resolve the grey areas.
Director, Licensing and Records, MVAA, Mr Hakeem Grillo, said the meeting was to proffer solutions to issues on vehicle licensing and administration.
“The quality of life in a society is highly dependent on the ease and efficiency with which the people, goods and services can be moved from one point to the other within the system. It has become imperative to resolve and proffer solutions to wide range of issues besetting modern day vehicle administration,” he said.
The meeting discussed issues aimed at fostering a good working relationship between the station managers and ECMR officers attached to MVAA licensing offices and strengthening the security measures put in place to check the challenges in vehicle registration procedures while maintaining peace and orderliness in all licensing offices.
Also discussed were issues on how to ensure that stolen vehicles were not re-registered at the licensing offices; to share experiences on the new number plates and fresh registration and renewal process.
Permanent Secretary, MVAA, Mr. Akin Hanson, said there was need for a symbiotic relationship between the MVAA and the ECMR officers in order to enhance efficiency in the motor vehicle administration process.
According to him, if there was good relationship between the MVAA and the ECMR officers, the ultimate beneficiaries would be the public.
