Ibile Games: Bariga Clears Badminton Gold

Players of Bariga Local Council Development Area, LCDA, gave a good account of themselves in the badminton event of the Ibile 2012 Games by making a clean sweep of the five gold medals at stake.

Tolu Olukotun and Folasade Akinyemi, representing the LCDA, won gold medals in the men’s singles and women’s singles respectively. Also, the pair of Tolu Olukotun and Seye Popoola won the men’s doubles while Shade Akinyemi and Kafayat Ibiyeye won the women’s doubles.

Bariga LCDA finished first on the log, carting home 5 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medals, while Yaba LCDA, which came second only managed to win 3 silver and 4 bronze medals.

However, most of the events scheduled to hold yesterday morning at various centres could not hold until later in the day due to the early morning downpour..
