Shooting Stars To Ambush Tourist
3SC coach, Akeem Busari has said his team would take advantage of the postponed Week 28 premier league midweek matches to intensify their preparations for the weekend tie against Wikki Tourists.
Akeem told SuperSport.com that they cannot afford to drop points at home anymore as the league has reached a crucial stage where such mistakes could prove to be costly.
“We lost some vital points at home in the first round that set us back and we are doing our best to make up for them so we are definitely going for the maximum points against Wikki this weekend,” he said.
“Fortunately for us, the midweek games have been postponed so we’ll have enough time to perfect our strategies to ensure victory.”
Busari, who has been jointly in charge of the Ibadan giants with Tunde Odubola after the exit of Festus Allen, reckons he knows his opponents well and can successfully plot their downfall.
“Wikki are a youthful, robust side like us and have some useful players in midfield so we know what to do to neutralise them,” he told SuperSport.com.
“This match is important because there are about five of us on 36 points and a win would enhance our position significantly.
“Our focus for now is to move well off the relegation zone and then consolidate our position in the top half of the table.
“The players have responded well by even picking points at away, so we will continue to encourage them to fight hard and do the club proud at the end of the season.”
3SC are currently 11th on the log and have been unbeaten in their last three matches.
