Wheelchair: Olapade Promises More Tourneys
President of Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, NWBF, Bukola Olapade has promised that the body will feature in more tournaments to keep the physically challenged basketball players busy.
This, he said will begin immediately after the 2012 Olympics holding in London.
While speaking at the weekend, the former Commissioner for Sports in Ogun State said: “After the Olympics in London, we’ll participate in more international tourneys to put our players in good shape, and also to ensure that we continue to try out our players in competitive championships ahead of he challenges ahead of us later in the year.”
Olapade, a member of the Nigeria Paralympic Sports opined that the body intends to organise a National Wheelchair Basketball League to be fashioned in line with the NBBF league, in a way that there will be the Atlantic conference in the Southern part of the country and the Savannah conference in the North.
He also revealed that the federation have been invited to participate in an internation tourney that will hold later this month.
