EFCC Arraigns Man For Forgery

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arraigned a 32-year old man, Samuel Khamsary before an Abuja High Court for alleged forgery and fraud.

Khamsary was arraigned on a three-count charge of forging the document of a property located on E Close, House No. 5, FHA Kubwa, belonging to his uncle, Mr. Patrick Khamsary.

The EFCC alleged that the accused used the forged document to defraud one Gidado Bello of the sum of N4.7 million.

According to the EFCC, the offence contravenes Sections 364 and 368 of the Penal Code, Cap 532 (LFN, Abuja) 1990.

The anti-graft agency said that the alleged crime was perfected between February and March 2010.

The offence attracts a punishment of 10 years imprisonment.

The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi granted the accused bail in the sum of N2 million following an oral application by his counsel, Mr. Festus Ituah.

Oniyangi also ordered the accused person to produce two sureties who should be “respected Nigerians” who must swear to an affidavit of means.

He ordered that the accused person be remanded in Kuje Minimum Prison until he meets the bail conditions.

The judge adjourned the case till July 26, for the commencement of trial.
