Assemblyman Gives Account Of Stewardship
The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Bolaji Yusuf Ayinla, has disclosed that within the first year of the seventh Assembly of the State, the House has 42 resolutions, 21 motions and considered a total of nine bills.
Ayinla, who yesterday held a Village Square meeting with members of his Mushin Constituency 2 of the State, informed them that one of such resolutions which concerned the people was moved by him.
According to him, “I have raised a motion on the floor of the Lagos State House of Assembly urging it to pass a resolution to give a helping hand to Mushin Local Government Council saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the security of lives and property of the people.
“This motion has since been adopted and passed as a resolution of the House.”
The lawmaker, who used the opportunity to unveil his quarterly in-house journal, The Ambassadors, told his constituents that he had ensured the employment of some of his people into the civil service while he had empowered some others to become financially independent.
“Our success story includes fixing of 15 personnel into the Ministry of Sports, 27 personnel into Lagos State Internal Revenue Services, 15 personnel into the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), 15 personnel for the Lagos Marine Police,” he said, adding that he had recommended 75 applications for teaching appointments in the state.
Highlighting other dividends of democracy he had brought to his Constituency, Ayinla said there was an on-going construction of potable water borehole projects in all the 10 wards of the Constituency some of which he would commission next week.
He also mentioned the construction of Ishaga-Idi-Araba-Akanro St-Ilasamaja, Oyewuwo Street, Folarin Street, Olanibi-Ojekunle Street as “part of my efforts to attract projects to Mushin.
He said so far, he had distributed thousands of raincoats to students in all the public primary and secondary schools within the Constituency to help reduce the effect of the rainy season on them.
Ayinla also informed them that the state government had promised the construction of more roads and reconstruction of schools in the Constituency while the provision of free school bus and grants to the less privileged were in the offing.
While commending him, National Legal Adviser of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Muiz Banire, urged politicians in the country to ensure effective representation of their people. He also urged the electorate to always demand accountability from their representatives in office.
