Court Orders Epe Council To Pay Contractor
A Lagos High Court has ordered Epe Local Government to pay Mr Monsuru Olayemi N2.07million owed him for a contract he executed for the council
In a judgment by Justice Morenike Obadina, the court said the council admitted being indebted to Olayemi.
The applicant had urged the court, in a motion on notice, to compel the council to pay him for a renovation work he did in a school.
The judge said: “Judgment is hereby entered for the claimant against the defendant in the sum of N2,070,192.20.”
The money, the judge said, is “the total sum being owed the claimant for the renovation work granted him in respect of Jakande classroom at Universal Primary School, Okerisan, Epe.”
Justice Obadina ordered Epe Local Government to pay interest at 21 per cent per annum on the sum from 30 January 2007 till the date of judgment ( 28 May , 2012 ) and 10 per cent thereafter “till the sum is fully paid.”
The judge said she made the order “upon the admission of the defendant’s counsel (G. L. Sodeyi) of the debt and asking for instalment payment.”
