Public Service Week: MOT Emerges Best In Exhibition

The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has emerged the best in the exhibition of activities and projects for the first time in the just concluded Public Service Week.

Speaking on the recognition by the state government, the acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Naheem Said, described the honour as a reward for hard work and diligence in the service, saying the ministry would continue to play its role in the delivery of service.

The acting permanent secretary, who said the ministry’ service was critical to the development in the state government, noted that the award would further boost the morale of staff to discharge their duties as expected, adding that recognition of that nature was more valued than monetary gain or reward.

“The ministry, which is in charge of all kinds movement whether on road or water provides strategic position to government delivery of service, economic and social development. It may be this role that actually qualified it as the best,” he said.

The Director, Finance and Administration, Mrs. Olabisi Ariyo, said the sterling performance of the ministry in the exhibition during the 2012 public service week made it to achieve the feat.

“The lane marking, traffic signal light and other activities were part of our past achievements. LASTMA displayed traffic game. Road signages were also displayed, Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, MVAA, also displayed various types of plate numbers, riders’ card and so many other products to enable the public know what the ministry is all about and its activities,” she said.
