A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Sultan Adeniji-Adele, is to sponsor a private member bill on wealth creation.
Adeniji-Adele, a representative of Amuwo-Odofin Constituency I at the House, disclosed this at an occasion marking his one year in office in which he empowered some members of his constituency.
The lawmaker said the bill, if passed, into law would compel the state government to focus more on the economic well-being of the people.
“The bill is meant to enhance entrepreneurship as well as provide opportunities for self-determination leading to economic self-improvement.
“In the Lagos State House of Assembly, I’ve worked assiduously and closely with other members to ensure that the government of the state run smoothly and is rancour free,” the lawmaker stated.
Adeniji-Adele said that to mark his one year in office, 80 different items were presented to his constituents, adding that the objective of the gesture was to encourage the creation of wealth and not the alleviation of poverty.
Items provided included sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers and kits for hair cut among others.
He noted that arrangements have been concluded with the state Ministry of Health to provide free eye test and 2, 500 free eye glasses to members of the constituency who need them.
The lawmaker called on President Goodluck Jonathan to urgently find a lasting solution to the spate of bombings in some northern parts of Nigeria to avoid another civil war.
According to him, ” Lagos State is a very peaceful state with united people; we do not want bombs in Lagos .
“Mr. President must, therefore, ensure adequate protection of lives and property in the country,” he said.
