Customs destroys poultry products worth N25m

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A, Ikeja on Wednesday said it seized and destroyed 6,000 cartons of assorted poultry products with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N25 million.
The Area Comptroller of the unit, Mr Dan Ugo, said this in a statement signed by Mr Uche Ejesieme, the Public Relations Officer of the zone.
Ugo said that the destruction was in compliance with the marching order of the Customs Comptroller-General (CCG), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko, on zero tolerance for importation of poultry products.
“The CCG has provided the platform for these successes through his various capacity building programmes aimed at equipping officers with the necessary skills for better performance,” he said.
Ugo said the unit was determined to execute the campaign through intensified intelligence networks.
He said the unit would do everything within its powers to curtail the activities of those, who constituted menace to the economy.
