Bomb Goes Off Near Nigerian Church
A bomb went off Sunday near a church in Okene, a major town in central Nigerian state of Kogi, officials said, adding there were no casualties.
“No casualty was recorded and we have launched an investigation,” Simon Ile, the police spokesman for Kogi state where Okene is located, told AFP.
The National Emergency Management Agency also confirmed the explosion and said two suspects were arrested.
The military Joint Task Force had last March raided a hideout of the Islamist sect Boko Haram in Okene, killing nine suspected members and recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition.
A soldier and a police officer were also killed in the raid.
