Sultan of Sokoto speaks on Nigeria

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll will on Thursday in Abuja address the Muslim community and the media on the state of the nation.

This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja and signed by Dr. AbdulLateef Adegbite, the Secretary-General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).

Adegbite said the Sultan would equally use the opportunity to announce to the world, certain restructuring and appointments recently made by the council.

He said the briefing, which will hold at National Mosque conference Hall, Abuja, would be attended by representatives of Muslim groups and Islamic societies in the country.

Adegbite said the Sultan, who is the President-General of NSCIA, would also use the opportunity to inform the Muslim community about efforts being made to sight the moon that would herald the beginning of the 2012 Ramadan fast.

He said although the Council had at various fora expressed its views on the state of the nation, the Sultan would speak on the efforts it had made in confronting the various challenges facing the country.

Adegbite said the occasion would also be used to inform the public as well as inaugurate the new leadership of National Mosque, Abuja, in line with the restructuring process.
