Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party yesterday took to the street to protest the inability of the Election Petition Tribunal to deliver judgment in the dispute over the Badagry Central Local Government poll.

The PDP chairnanship candidate in the election, Mustapha Dada, had challenged the election of ACN candidate, Dosu, who was declared winner during the election which took place on 22 October, 2011.

The PDP supporters demanded the delivery of the judgment on the next adjourned date, 27 July, 2012.

The delivery of the judgment had suffered four previous adjournments with the tribunal not seating at all.

Reacting to the postponement of the judgment till 27 July, the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Gani Taofeek, expressed surprise that the judgment date was shifted again .

He however expressed confidence that the tribunal will deliver justice in the matter.

“We encourage the panel to go ahead and declare the judgment without fear or favour so as to write its name in gold. The way it is going, the ACN government is not comfortable with some judgements from the panel especially because the same panel had delivered four councillorship petitions in favour of PDP. We suspect that there is pressure on the panel to either do a miscarriage of justice or abandon the judgment,” he said.
