Council poll peaceful in Ijebu Waterside, says official

Electoral Officer, EO, of Ogun Waterside Local Government, Mr. Adewale Ode has described Saturday’s Ogun State Local Government Election in the council as a success.
While speaking at the collating centre of the poll at the secretariat of Ogun Waterside Local Government in Abigi, Ode said he was glad that the political parties and the electorates conducted themselves in a peaceful way that ensure a hitch free election.
“I’m glad to say that the election was peaceful. This was made possible by the political parties and the electorates that conducted themselves in a peaceful manner. I think this a sign that the era of violent election is over in the state. I must also give kudos to the security agents, both police and the Army for their support,” he said.
The electoral officer said the collation of results is ongoing and he would announce the results as soon as everything is concluded
Commenting on the success of the local government election, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ijebu East/Ijebu North/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Mr. Abiodun Abudu, wanted the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to take a cue from Ogun State Electoral Commission with the way it ensured that electoral materials got to all polling stations early on Saturday, as this made the accreditation started early and motivated the people to come out in the morning.
Abudu, who voted at a polling booth close to his residence in Ita Otu, praised the state’s electoral commission and the security agents for a job well done.
He noted that the people will have confidence in the electoral system if the electoral commission in states and the federal levels are alive to their responsibilities.
P.M.News’ monitoring of the election across some towns that make up the Local government showed that the poll was peaceful. The election went well in towns like Ibiade, Abigi-Ilutitun, iwopin, Oni,Togburin, Lukogbe, Agodo, Ilusin, Ita Otu, Ibiade, Ita Ogun and Abigi.
