Lagos NUJ Prays For Missing Ex-NTA Staff

The Lagos State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, this morning organised a prayer session for former Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, staff, Alhaji Gawat Rasaq who had went missing 14 days ago.
Four Muslim clerics conducted the prayer at the NUJ Press Centre at Iyalla Street, Alausa, Ikeja at about 11 a.m. today.
According to the chairman, Lagos State NUJ, Mr. Deji Elumoye, the prayer session became imperative because the union believed that Gawat is alive.
During the prayer session, the clerics, Malam Kazeem Oyekola, Aliu Obaditan Akeem, and Asaji, offered the prayers that lasted about two hours.
Some members of the NUJ and the Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola on Religious Affairs, Alhaji Abdulakeem Kosoko witnessed the prayer session.
“Like the chairman has said, this is not a day for speech but to caution ourselves to be on the lookout. Lawal, I know, is somebody that appears to be loved by people. He expresses himself by bringing everybody to himself.
“If he is declared missing, I begin to wonder, we have a lot to do both in church and mosque. Those abductors are human beings. These are becoming so scary. People that you interact with are the same people who put surveillance on you and sell you to people.
“Because we are ignorant of what is going on, we have no clue, but God knows. He is aware of his whereabouts. We pray for the family. Those that have done this, may God touch their hearts,” Oyekola said.
