How Assassins Killed Ex-Police Chief

Fresh facts emerged yesterday on how gunmen suspected to be hired assassins shot dead on Tuesday night a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Pullen Agbaifo at his home at Unity Estate, off Idimu-Egbeda road, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

According to his neighbours, armed men stormed the former ACP’s residence at 1, Agbaifo Street, at about 9 p.m.

They reportedly gained entranced into his palatial residence when they trailed his driver called Seye into the gate and entered the compound with him.

P.M.NEWS gathered today that immediately Agbaifo’s driver came down from the car, the gunmen pointed a gun at his head and ordered him to lead them to the sitting room where his boss was relaxing.

When the assassins saw Agbaifo, they pumped several bullets into his body, waited until he died before they left the house.

Neighbours who rushed to the scene immediately after the shooting noticed that the assailants did not remove any item from the house. They concluded that the gunmen were hired assassins who targeted him for elimination.

Agbaifo’s corpse has been deposited at the mortuary at Ikeja General Hospital for autopsy. The retired ACP who hailed from Edo State, Southsouth Nigeria, served at the Air Wing of the Nigeria Police. As a pilot, Agbaifo was reported to have flown two former Nigerian leaders, former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

When P.M.NEWS correspondents visited his home this morning, Agbaifo’s neighbours and relatives were seen discussing the incident. They expressed shock at the way the ex-police chief was murdered.

Efforts to speak with the deceased’s children proved abortive as the eldest child said he was still in shock and could not grant an interview for now.

Policemen from Area ‘M’ Command, Idimu were deployed to the home of the slain former police chief.

A source at the police command told our correspondents that police have commenced investigations into the murder but no arrest had been made yet. Contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Ngozi Braide said that police have commenced investigation into the incident.
