‘Why I Sowed My Magodo Land To God’
The donor of the controversial parcel of land at Magodo, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, to Mountain of Liberation Church, Ojodu Berger, Mrs. Dorothy Igbanor, has said that she and members of her family voluntarily sowed the said land to the Lord, adding that they were not forced to doing so.
Mrs. Igbanor who was accompanied by her son, Barrister Bashiru Igbanor, to the church at the weekend to clear the air on the controversial land at a press conference, added that she did so because the land has been possessed by evil forces.
According to her son, “the land belonged solely to my mother and she has been owning it for the past 15 years now. At a time, we begged to sell the land for N4 million but buyers were not coming because there were evil forces on the land. So, what is the essence of having a land without peace of mind.
“In fact, after my mother sowed the land to the Lord, people were thinking that she is stupid or insane but they didn’t know the battle that we were fighting on it. I also sowed my Toyota Corolla car to the Lord and I am now using a bigger car.
“There is no form of 419 involved in the giving of the land to the church. We were not forced into doing so, it was a collective decision of the family to sow it to the Lord and we have started reaping the reward of the seed we sowed. Therefore, all the allegations surrounding it are baseless and uncalled for,” he said.
The General Overseer of the church, Prophet Chris Okafor, described the allegation that he hoodwinked the member of his church into parting with her land estimated at N180 million as a distraction from doing the work of God.
“I think you guys have heard from the horse’s mouth. The landed property was a gift to the church. The donor gave it out on her own volition. A lot of charms were uprooted from the land before we could do anything on it. I uprooted about 17 different charms from it.
“They also alleged that I organised my own kidnap story. How can that be possible? I was held captive for 53 days and one of my security aides, Adamu Ahero, was killed in the process. My jeep(SUV) was bullet ridden and it is yet to be repaired. The guy was buried by the church and his family is also being taken care of by the church.
“During that period, my children were orphans and my wife was a widow and some people just sat somewhere and started writing rubbish just to smear my name. For their information, I can’t be deterred,” he vowed.
He stated further that the house built on the land is an extension of the church, adding that an ordinary human being cannot build on the land.
