Emir Bayero’s ill-health will temper Sallah in Kano

Indications emerged Wednesday in Kano, northwest Nigeria that this year’s Sallah Celebration would be devoid of colourful events, as a result of the ill-health of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
Bayero who returned from London last month where he underwent medical treatment has been battling with undisclosed illness.
Authorities of the Emirate Council on Tuesday told the Palace Correspondents that the traditional Hawan Nassarawa, Dushe and Dorayi, which add colour to the Sallah celebration would not be carried out.
They cited the Emir’s health condition as the major reason the ceremony was put on hold, while urging citizens to remain calm and law abiding.
KANO Sttate Emirate council has announced the suspension off all activities lined up to mark the end of the Ramadan and usher in the Eid-Fitr celebration stated for weekend due to the frail health of the Emir of kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
The council however stated that the action will not affect the Eid –fitr prayer, noting that it was necessary that, “the popular Hawan Nassarawa, Dushe and Dorayi, the Durbah and other ceremonial activities will be placed on hold.”
Spokesman of the Emirate Council, the Wamban Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi said that,’” the suspension of the festivities was due to the Emir of Kano’s health condition. We urge the Muslim Ummah to celebrate the Sallah in peace and use the occasion to visit friends and relatives.”

Those in attendance of the Press Conference at the Emir’s Palace include, District Heads, Dan Majen Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi , Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, governor and other first class title holders.
