Amosun pledges even development in Ogun State

Governor Ibikunle Amosun

Abiodun Onafuye/ Abeokuta

The Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has promised to ensure fairness in the distribution of social amenities among the
three Senatorial Districts in the state.

In a statement issued this evening and signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Mrs Funmi Wakama, copy of which
was made available to our correspondent in Abeokuta, the governor made the pledge today while playing host to the members of Yewa Think-Tank
(YTT), a non-political pressure group, who paid him a courtesy visit.

The governor promised to particularly surprise the people of Ogun West Senatorial District with the level of development he would bring to
the zone.

Amosun told the YTT members who were led by Professor Dolapo Alabi that already four of the eleven roads recently approved by the State
Executive Council (EXCO) are located in the Senatorial District. The roads are, Ilara-Egua-Oja Odan, Abeokuta-Aiyetoro and the Ilo-Awela
roads.

According to the governor, “we have awarded these roads and contractors are in the process of moving to site to commence work. The
Ilara-Egua-Oja Odan road particularly is a road dear to my heart because it will open up the whole of Yewaland.

“The development of Ogun West is one thing that I am personally taking seriously and I want to tell you that dualisation work would soon
commence on the Papalanto-Ilaro road while repair works will soon begin on sections of the Ilaro-Owode road. Yes,these are federal
roads, but there are no federal citizens, it is our people that ply these roads and they are the ones suffering”, Amosun posited.

Senator Amosun also told his visitors that seven of the 26 Model schools being constructed by his administration are located in
Yewa-Aworiland while some of the ultra-modern hospitals being planned would equally be located in the zone.

The governor while pledging to be fair to all the three zones in the state in his appointments, called attention to the fact that the
number of Permanent Secretaries of Yewa-Awori origin have doubled since his administration came on board.

While reacting to the governor’s promises, the President of Yewa Think Tank, Prof. Alabi, enjoined the governor to end years of
marginalisation of the Yewa-Awori zone, lamenting that the development of the area is far behind that of the other two Senatorial Districts
in the state.
