Lagos HOS Cup Final Holds Tuesday
The finals of the 7th edition of the Lagos HOS Cup football competition in the male and female categories will hold next Tuesday at the Agege Stadium, Agege, Lagos.
The competition is played among agencies of the Lagos State Public Service. In the male category; the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) will slug it out with the defending champions, the Lagos State Judiciary, while in the female category, Office of Sports will play against the Ministry of the Environment.
To qualify for the final in the male category, the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, edged out the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, 2-0. The Judiciary, however, beat the Office of Sports 3-0 to qualify for the final.
In the female category, the Office of Sports defeated the State Universal Basic Education Board in the semi-final via penalty shoot-out 3-2 after a goalless draw at regulation time, while the Ministry of the Environment defeated the Office of Chief of Staff 1-0.
In the third place match, the Office of Sports defeated the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency 1-0 in the male category, while the State Universal Basic Education Board beat Office of Chief of Staff via a walk over to clinch the bronze medal in the female category.
The final is the climax of the competition which started on Monday, 3 September with 50 government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) including Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas participating in the male category and 24 MDAs participating in the female category.
Previous winners of the competition in the male category included the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Social Development, (2006); Ministry of Information and Strategy (2007); Lagos Television (2008); Lagos State Judiciary (2009); Ministry of Transportation (2010) and Lagos Judiciary (2011).
In the female category, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development won it in (2006); Office of Chief of Staff (2007); Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (2009); and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) (2010 & 2011).
