Ogun Donates N2.5m To Families Of 5 Slain Cops

Ogun State Government, Southwest Nigeria, today presented N2.5 million to the family of five policemen who were killed during a robbery operation on Sunday and Monday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The victims are: Inspector Christopher Uku, Inspector Josiah Ehoda, Sergeant James Adejo, Sergeant Nduka Nwachukwu and Corporal Istifanus Day. Three of the policemen were killed in Abeokuta on Monday while the other two were killed in Ibafo on Sunday night by the same robbery gang.

Presenting the money to the widows of the slain policemen, the secretary to the State Government, SSG, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa who represented Governor Ibikunle Amosun sympathised with the families of the deceased cops.

He said the N500,000 given to each of the families was for  their burial, adding that another N1 million each will be given to each of the families after the burial.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations Abdulkadri Muhammadu could not hold back their tears at the ceremony.

The event was witnessed by government officials including Head of Quick Response Squad, Rafiu Adebayo, Senior Special Assistant, SSA to the governor on Security, Patrick Akinduro and SSA to the governor on media, Funmi Wakama.
