Race For Next MTV Base VJ Hots UP

With just a week to go before the auditions of the MTV Base VJ Search – Nigeria, the hunt for a new VJ (TV presenter) is getting hot.

Showbiz Trends learnt that thousands of aspiring talents have already submitted their entries for the auditions which will take place at Fantasy Land, Lagos on 1 December.

Already, R&B star Banky W has been signed up as one of the judges for the VJ Search, with more judges to be revealed next week. Together, they will help to identify the brand new VJ who will become one of the key faces of the music network, hosting programmes on MTV Base and on the MTV Base block on STV. The winner will also be interviewing stars, emcee parties and concerts, walk the red carpet at entertainment events and travel all over the continent representing MTV Base.

“We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes youth culture. Someone with a bright and engaging personality and lots of energy and confidence,” said Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa.

Cynthia “C-Von” Okpala won the MTV Base’s first ever Nigerian VJ search in 2007. She subsequently hosted many MTV Base programmes and showbiz events, co-hosted syndicated radio show MTN Yellow Top 10 Countdown and has gone to star as Ify in M-Net TV series Tinsel.

The MTV Base VJ Search is open to Nigerian citizens aged between 18-25, with fluent spoken English and a valid Nigerian passport. The winner of the VJ Search Nigeria will be revealed in early 2013.
