FCT Judiciary Workers Shelve Planned Strike

The FCT High Court Chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on Monday suspended a planned strike scheduled to start on 10 December

In a statement issued in Abuja, the chairman of the union, Comrade Umar Ali, was quoted as saying that the action was suspended, due to ongoing negotiations.

It will be recalled that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the union decided to embark on the strike on 10 Monday December, over the non-implementation of the consolidated judiciary staff salary structure (CONJUSS).

The statement added that the NEC, decided to shelve the action, after it examined the attendant consequences of the commencement of the strike at this period and carefully considered the high level of concern raised through phone calls.

“The NEC has directed the FCT branch of the union to painstakingly put on hold, the planned action which was earlier slated for Monday to pave way for further deliberations with the stakeholders”.

The statement further stated that the NEC wished to assure both the FCT exco and the entire members of JUSUN that the suspension of the strike was temporary.

“In no distant time, the national body will communicate to their members further directives please,” the statement was quoted as saying.
