As the search for Titilayo, the wife of the Military Governor of the old Western Region , Brig-Gen Oluwole Rotimi (RETD) who was abducted on Monday evening continues, the Oyo State Police Command has given assurance that very soon, the command would secure the release of the kidnapped retired general’s wife.
The promise was given in an interview with the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Ayodele Lanade.
Mrs. Rotimi was kidnapped around 6.30pm on Monday in front of her company, AOK Logistics Limited by four armed men when she was about to leave her office.
The PPRO said, “We will not disclose our strategy about how we are going with the investigation of the matter but I can assure you that we are working serious to secure the release of the abducted woman. It will not be security wise to reveal how we are going about the investigation so that the hoodlums behind the devilish act would not outsmart us. Sooner than anybody think, the woman will get her freedom”
The police spokesperson also assured that the perpetrators of the ugly act would be brought to book.
When our correspondent visited the Ikolaba residence of the retired general, the place was deserted with no one in sight except the security man who declined comment.
The kidnap of Mrs. Rotimi was the second high-profile kidnap in Nigeria within 24 hours. It followed the kidnap of Professor Kamene Okonjo, mother of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and queen Mother of Ogwashi-Ukwu, where her husband is the traditional ruler.
In both cases, the police have been making promises to free the captured women.
