The ‘Mad King Of Ijudaya’ On Stage
The Mad King of Ijudiya, a stage drama written and produced by Ayo Jayesimi, will be presented at the MUSON Centre, Lagos, on 29 and 30 December.
The drama is directed by Abiola Segun Williams and choreographed by Adejumo Emmanuel. Segun Arinze played the lead character as King of Ijudiya Village.
The play parades an array of stars, which include Joke Silva, Akin Lewis, Monalisa Chinda, Toyin Sonaike, Paul Adams, Lala Akindoju, Uduak Akrah and Tinsel stars; Iyke Ikechukwu, Shafi Akinrimisi, Jennifer Ivezbuwa and Florence Uwaleke.
The King of Ijudiya, in this play, is portrayed as a very mean and boastful leader. In one of his dialogues, he boasted that “I teach the arrogant pond a lesson. I stew the fishes of the river. I’m the spirit. I’m the fire that burns the weak and the mild. I’m the sly fox that carries away the tender lamb and the mother sheep gives me an extra one to appease my wrath…”
