NEW YEAR: Ojudu Upbraids Ruling Class

Senator Babafemi Ojudu says 2013 is a year that the ruling class should move beyond vain promises to living by example and seriously settling down to doing good by Nigerians.

Ojudu, in his goodwill message on the new year celebration, said Nigerians had suffered enough, adding that there is enough money in the country to go round.

He said he was afraid that if nothing was done on time, the poor masses might pounce on the rich few sooner than expected.

Ojudu maintained that the sense of victory displayed by some youths on the social media at the news of some governors’ death or misfortune had shown him that people are fast losing their sense of humanity, a situation that could only be brought on by consistent suffering.

He added that the ruling class might soon run into serious danger if smiles are not put on the faces of the poor masses and the unemployed youth.

While felicitating with Nigerians on New Year celebration, Ojudu, who represents Ekiti Central in the Senate, prayed for a better year.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, has joined millions of Nigerians to welcome the new year (2013).

In a good will message released at his constituency office, Ashafa said that “we should all welcome the new year with our minds full of hope despite the various challenges the nation is facing and that everyone should be ready to build the nation in his or her area of discipline.

“Every moment of our life is most precious. We should not fritter it away in useless pursuits, but devote it in the search of building the nation to compete with the rest of the world in all ramifications.”

He also enjoined all Nigerians, irrespective of religious beliefs to imbibe and emulate the spirit of the season, which is love, joy, peace, justice and kindness. He urged Nigerians to continue to promote the unity of the country in its progressive march towards nationhood.
