Governor Ibikunle Amosun of the western Nigerian state of Ogun, has given assurance to the people of Ijebu Ode and its environs that the two bridges being constructed as part of the road expansion project of Mobalufon/Folagbade road will be ready for use by the next annual Ojude Oba festival. The festival comes up two days after the Eid-el-Kabir, which is scheduled to be celebrated by 15 October.
Amosun who gave this assurance today during his on-the-spot assessment of the road, said his administration was working round the clock to increase the pace of work so that the deadline could be met.
The governor expressed satisfaction for the progress recorded so far on the project, noting that, ‘’by the benevolence of God and the good people of Ogun State, this Folagbade bridge and the one at Mobalufon junction would be ready before the next Ojude Oba festival’’, Amosun promised.
He emphasized that work on the road was going on as planned, adding that the projects being embarked upon by his government all over the State could stand the test of time and would outlive his administration.
According to the governor, “I am sure that we are on track. What we are trying to do on our road projects across the State are things that will outlive us, such that they would be motorable for the next fifty years. We will have milestones to showcase to our people that we mean business and we run round every week to make sure that every part of the state takes advantage of what we are doing”.
On the Ilisan-Ago-Iwoye road project, the governor noted that work is going on too, to take care of the tempo of commercial activities expected in the area with the presence of Apoje Farm and the proposed Cassava and Rice Mill.
“With the kind of activities and commercial tempo that we envision for this part of the State, going by the presence of Apoje Farm and the proposed Cassava and Rice Mill in this axis, we need to ensure that we put necessary things in place that will enhance the movement of goods and people. I can see a Gateway State where people can link its major
towns and communities so easily in the next two or three years”, Amosun said.
