WYC: We Were Wasteful Against Cuba —Obuh

•Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh

Nigeria’s U-20 Coach, John Obuh, says his team missed many chances in Monday’s 3-0 win against Cuba at the U-20 World Cup Group B match in Turkey.

A statement from the team’s Media Officer, Sam Audu, quoted Obuh as saying: “We lost more chances than we scored, this is because of the players’ poor attitude in front of goal, but the most important thing is that we played well after our loss to Portugal and we hope to stay long enough in the competition to correct this problem.”

Skipper, Abduljaleel Ajagun also said that it was crucial that the Flying Eagles beat Cuba.

“It was not an easy match because Cuba gave us a fight but we’re happy we won the three points at stake and will take it from there,’’ Ajagun noted.

Meanwhile, Cuba’s Coach, Raul Gonzalez, said that the Nigerian team was superior to his team.

“It was not such a big disappointment for us to lose to Nigeria because the Nigeria side is better and more effective than us.

“It was a dream to play at the World Cup. We have gained a lot of experience here as we have had to play against far better teams like Nigeria,” the statement quoted the coach as saying.

Nigeria’s win was Africa’s first victory at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Nigeria will face South Korea in the final of Group B match on Thursday in Istanbul.
