Lagos Inter-Clubs Competition: Emma Maria Art Win Karate Tourney
The Grassroots Inter-Club Competition organised by Lagos State Karate Association has been won by Emma Martial Art Club.
The club won the tourney with 5 gold, 3 silver and 10 bronze medals. I Do Karate Club came second with 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals, while Golden Academy Karate Club came third with 2 gold medals.
The ongoing inter-clubs competitions are being organised by various sports associations in Lagos State with funding facilitated by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development as well as the Office of the Grassroots Sports Development in the Governor’s Office.
In Badminton, after Femi Bioku defeated Seye Popoola at second quarter Bbdminton championship, the player boasted his next target is to win gold medal in 2014 National Sports Festival.

Bioku defeated his opponent, 21-16, 21-15 to become champion in the men’s single final of tournament held at the weekend at the Indoor Sport Hall of Lagos State Sports Council, Yaba, Lagos,
Popoola, who was tipped to win the game could not equal his opponent, as Bioku was at his best throughout the final.
Bioku told P.M.NEWS Sports that he was very happy to win the tournament, saying that he will continue to work hard to achieve his target in next year’ sports festival.
“It was a good outing for me.I thanked God that I win the men’s singles final. I will not rest on my oars and ensure that I keep fit for future tournaments,” he said.
In women’s single final, Tosin Solademi humbled her opponent, Shade Akinyemi 21-18, 21-17 to win the game.
Solademi applauded her opponent for good fight but noted that the better side won the game.
“It was tough match for me but I thank God that I came out victorious,” said Solademi who praised the organisers for organising this tournament to help the players to prepare ahead of future national tournament.
