Fraudsters have opened a fake Facebook account of Ahmadu Giade, Chairman of Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, the agency announced on Thursday.

NDLEA spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said in a Facebook post that Giade does not have a Facebook account and the one opened is fake and fraudulent.

“The general public is hereby notified of the criminal activities of some persons or group of persons who have opened a Facebook account with the name and photographs of the Honourable Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ahmadu Giade.

“NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade is not on Facebook and has never opened a Facebook account. The purported Facebook account is fake and fraudulent,” he said.

Ofoyeju said the fraudulent account is a deliberate attempt to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public.

“While appropriate steps are being taken to address this criminal act of impersonation; the public is advised not to have any transaction with the said Facebook account. This is for your information and necessary action,” Ofoyeju said.
