I won’t return to PDP, says Governor Nyako

Murtala Nyako: says no return to PDP

Gov. Murtala Nyako of the northern state of Adamawa said he would not return to the Peoples Democratic Party despite the resignation of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as the national chairman of the party.

He is the second former PDP governor to shut door against the PDP. On Thursday, Governor Aliyu Wammako of Sokoto state also ruled out rejoining the PDP that he left to join the opposition All Progressives Congress.

Nyako made his stand clear when he interacted with newsmen at Yola International Airport, Adamawa today.

“The resignation of Bamanga Tukur is not a condition of my return to PDP.

“Some of my reasons for not returning are that the party has became an empire of impunity and lawlessness,’’ he said.

He said his decision to remain in APC was not for personal interest, but in the interest of the country and democracy.

Both Nyako and Bamanga Tukur are from Adamawa State and they had a bruising battle over Tukur’s plans to make his son, the governor of the state, in succession to Nyako.
